Doing it the Virgin way: creating a projects division to deliver on time and to budget
Tuesday 24th April 2007, 09.50 - 10.30
Two years ago Virgin Atlantic Airways set about creating a Projects Division to improve its delivery of the many multi million pound projects that it undertakes every year.
Wonderfully innovative with a passion for the creative, this organisation faced the challenges of on time and to budget delivery.
An insightful and quirky look at project management through the eyes of one person who helped to make this vision a reality. Exploring the cultural clashes, the mind set difficulties and the colossal mistakes which preceded the successes.
A frank and often funny account of bringing project discipline into a very fluffy organisation.
Speaker Biography
Joining VAA's Projects Division two years ago Irene brought a people approach and many years of practical experience. Previously from an automotive engineering background she has a good grounding in the tools of project management but has long held the view that people, rather than processes, make the difference in project success. A member of the APM since 1998, she is an active committee member of the People SIG.
